Steve Forseth makes bit for councillor- September 14th Issue

As the November civic election draws closers, more bids to run are coming forward. One of the latest is Steve Forseth, he announced his candidacy on Monday.

Forseth did run in the 2005 Civic election unsuccessfully, as well as the Cariboo Regional District Electoral Area ‘F’ Directorship in the 2008 Civic election.

According to Forseth, his main reason for running in this year’s election is he is unhappy with the current direction of the City and he has a number of concerns relating to decisions made by the current Council.

Forseth also feels the City should use social media more to keep the public up to date on what they are up to, and that the City needs to revamp their website sooner rather than later. He said the City is working on updating the website, but has had four deadline extensions, and Forseth said it’s time for it to be completed.

In his campaign, he will be using social media to keep the public a
ware of where is he is and what he up too.

“There will be less personal attacks, they are a major turnoff for people,” said Forseth. “I will be more or less focusing on the issues and my opinion on those issues and less on personalities.”

Forseth has three main issues he is concerned about: the former popular glade site, the future of Scout Island, and making the Cariboo Lodge usable for seniors.

“If elected, I will be using the blog quite religiously to let people know what their councilors are up too.”

Forseth said he doesn’t have a preference on a mayor, saying that it should be left up to the community at large to make the decision based on the candidate’s platforms.
