It’s time to lace them up for the Canadian fall tradition - September 14th Issue

The time is almost upon us, it’s time to lace up your running shoes, fill up a pledge sheet, and join in the local Terry Fox Fun this Sunday.

Over the last 30 years the Terry Fox Run has become a fall tradition, with communities and schools hosting runs all over Canada, and runs being organized all over the world.

This year’s run is Sunday, September 18, as the run takes place the second Sunday after Labour Day and is being organized by Recreation Services.

Registration starts at 9 a.m. with the run set to begin at 10 a.m., pledge sheets can be found online at terryfox.org.

September was chosen by Terry to signify the time when he had to stop running and when Canadians had to start.

In the last 30 years, Terry’s dream of raising money to support others with cancer has been reached with the foundation raising millions for cancer research.

This year a new addition to the way people can donate is by using an app on their iPhone or android phone, or pledges can be collected and donations made by mail, or online.

So if you remember running the Terry Fox Run as a child in school, why not take the time this year to lace some sneakers up and join in on Sunday.
