Paws for a Cause- Front page story September 14th

This year’s annual Paws for a Cause walk raised $10, 750 for the Williams Lake SPCA, which exceeds their fundraising goal by $750. Liz Dighton from the SPCA said the attendance was down from previous years, but that may have been because of the wonderful weather.

The park was full of dogs and their owners all ready to go for a walk around town to create some exposure for the Williams Lake SPCA. The money raised will go towards helping animals in need right here in our community. She would like to thank everyone who donated money, prizes, or time.

The $10,750 was raised by a combination of a silent auction, pledges, BBQ lunch, concession, ScotiaBank book sale, and the ScotiaBank matching the book sale total. As well as the walk itself, the park was full of different booths and activities for pets and their owners.

Overall, Dighton says the walk was a huge success.

The SPCA Paws for Cause walk on Sunday turned a wide variety of dogs, and owners. Here Nicole and Sarah Roberts with their pack of dogs, two of which are SPCA dogs. Left to Right: Opal, Oreo (SPCA dog, Denim, and Lotus (SPCA dog). The two also have another dog, Rocky, who is from the SPCA who is not pictured.
